The IBEW is calling on all members to mobilize now and urge their U.S. Representative to vote YES on the Faster Labor Contracts Act (H.R. 5408) this Tuesday, June 9th. 

When workers elect to form a union, they deserve a real opportunity to secure the wages, benefits, and workplace protections they voted for. Unfortunately, some employers deliberately stall first-contract negotiations for months and even years after a successful union election, delaying access to the union benefits to which these workers are entitled. 

The Faster Labor Contracts Act would establish a clear process and strict timeline for reaching a first collective bargaining agreement, helping workers secure the benefits they voted for and strengthening the freedom to organize. 

For IBEW members, strong collective bargaining rights are essential to protecting good union jobs, raising wages, improving benefits, and ensuring workers have a meaningful voice in the workplace. 

Why this matters to the IBEW: 

• Employers should never be allowed to stall contract negotiations or weaken workers’ support for their union 
• First contracts help workers secure the pay, health care, retirement security, and workplace protections they voted for
• Workers who vote for union representation deserve a fair opportunity to secure a first contract quickly 
• Stronger first-contract protections broaden the labor movement, build union density, and expand bargaining power for all working people  

The House will vote on the Faster Labor Contracts Act this Tuesday, June 9th. Representatives must stand with working people and protect the right to collectively bargain by supporting this important legislation.
