Oppose TVA Privatization Toolkit
The IBEW is calling on all members to mobilize now and stop the Trump administration from privatizing the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). We support the President’s goal of unleashing American energy, but destabilizing the TVA is not the answer.
For almost a century, the TVA has belonged to the people, delivering affordable energy and economic development to over 10 million residents across seven states while creating good union jobs that support thousands of working families.
Privatizing the TVA will:
- Force residents to pay more for electricity
- Trigger the loss of skilled union jobs, including those of 10,000 IBEW members, many of whom are veterans or from rural communities
- Promote profits over the public interest by installing private companies with limited accountability and no roots in the community
We must act now. President Trump has already removed three board members and threatened the rest to fire CEO Don Moul or face removal themselves. Protect good-paying union jobs for IBEW members and the future of energy in the South by using the toolkit below:
- Letter Campaign: Visit bit.ly/HandsOffTheTVA to send a letter to your members of Congress. Enter your mailing address, click “Start Writing,” and a sample letter will populate, telling your members of Congress to oppose TVA privatization.
- Social Media Post with Graphics: Share this post with one of the following graphics on your social media channels to inform fellow IBEW members about this proposed legislation:
- “I am a proud IBEW member, and I oppose the privatization of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Privatizing the TVA will threaten good-paying union jobs of 10,000 IBEW members and risks higher electric bills for over 10 million residents across seven Southern states.
