Oppose GOP Tax Bill Toolkit

Please join the IBEW in its urgent opposition to the GOP tax bill.

The Senate narrowly passed the revised GOP tax bill on Tuesday afternoon. The bill is now being sent back to the House of Representatives for approval of the Senate’s changes before the President can sign the bill into law. With Trump urging Congress to get the GOP tax bill to his desk by this Friday, July 4, we have an extremely short window of opportunity to act.

Now is the time for all hands on deck. This is the final opportunity for IBEW members to press their Representatives to vote against this bill before it’s signed into law. This bill will immediately halt renewable energy development by cutting crucial Inflation Reduction Act tax credits, killing thousands of good paying jobs, including many held by IBEW members. Thanks to the IRA, clean energy sources like wind, solar, nuclear, and geothermal have created jobs nationwide, but this bill eliminates the investments responsible for this job growth.

At stake are hundreds of thousands of good-paying construction jobs, billions of work hours, and hundreds of billions in lost wages and economic benefits to America’s middle class. This bill guts infrastructure investment and sacrifices existing economic development while providing no clear benefit to working Americans. Instead of promoting energy independence at home, it forces the U.S. to rely on our foreign adversaries, increasing energy bills for every household and draining local communities of good jobs.
