The IBEW is calling on all Missouri members to mobilize now to stop corrupt redistricting and reject gerrymandered maps. Demand fair maps that protect union voices and working families. 

Governor Kehoe has called a special legislative session to prepare a congressional map that would silence working families. Backed by the Trump administration, he aims to weaken the pro-union 5th district by carving up Kansas City. 

If successful, Missouri would lose half its pro-labor representation, leaving only the 1st district St. Louis as a pro-labor seat.  Time is of the essence as the redistricting bill passed the Missouri House on September 9, and it’s now on its way to the Missouri Senate for consideration. 

This is not about fair representation. This is part of a national GOP strategy to flip enough U.S. House seats before the 2026 midterms to fast-track anti-worker, anti-union policies nationwide that they know are unpopular.  

Mid-decade redistricting will:  

• Erase workers’ voices in union-dense communities like Kansas City 
• Protect anti-union politicians who attack collective bargaining, PLAs, union dues deductions, and prevailing wage laws 
• Open the door for more anti-worker laws like the Big Ugly Bill  
• Threaten union rights and jobs in Missouri and nationwide
